New Fit and Fall Proof™ Classes Have Started

A new season of Fit and Fall Proof™ - older adult exercise classes - will bFit and Fall Proof 2016e beginning the week of January 11-15. These classes are designed for older adults who want to improve their health and reduce their risk of falling. Classes are free and focus on improving mobility, balance, flexibility, and strength through a variety of exercises. For more information, please click here.

First Quarter 2016 Fluoride Varnish Clinics

Dental Hygienists from Eastern Idaho Public Health will be available to provide an oral screening and fluoride varnish application for your child (children), ages 6 months to 12 years at No Cost To You Or Your Family.

Breast Cancer AwarenessThank you

We wanted to extend a big thank you to everyone in Eastern Idaho who has participated in fundraising activities geared towards the early detection, treatment, and cure of breast cancer. As you hopefully know, the proceeds from the annual Run for the Cure event go towards providing free mammography/ultrasound vouchers to women who qualify for preventative health services. Since 2007, $50,724.98 has been raised and 374 women have been served. This would not be possible except for the tremendous efforts of the community, health care providers, private businesses, and various other organizations. Many lives have been saved through your generosity.

The health district is committed to maintaining these outreach and education efforts. This year, Run for the Cure is scheduled for Saturday, October 3 at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls. Information about this event can be found here.

The health district also accepts donations for the free mammography/ultrasound voucher program. If you would like to make a donation or see if you qualify for the voucher program, please contact Rachel Tweedie at 208-533-3198 or rtweedie@EIPH.Idaho.gov.

Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings Available for Eligible Women

EIPH's Women's Health Check staff--Lucy, Rachel, and Connie--are available to assist older, uninsured women with limited family income and no other health care resources receive FREE breast and cervical cancer screenings. On September 18, 2012, Idaho's Public Health District's launched the Network of Care for Public Health, a community-based web portal program that provides individuals, families, policy makers, and public health leaders with a wealth of health-related information at the county, health district, state, and national levels. On the site, Eastern Idaho Public Health is PHD7 and includes Bonneville, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton Counties.
